LDCwood is een 50/50 joint venture tussen Lemahieu Group nv (bestaande uit Lemahieu en Lempan) als importeur van naaldhout en specialist
in houtverwerking en Decolvenaere Houtimport nv als importeur van Afrikaans hout.
Voor de eerste keer hebben twee gevestigde houtimporteurs hun visie op kwaliteit & service verenigd in een nieuw en innoverend bedrijf,
LDCwood.
LDCwood is de eerste officiële ThermoWood®-producent van België. Als lid van de International ThermoWood Association, stapt het bedrijf
mee de toekomst in. LDCwood modificeert ayous, fraké, es en vuren/grenen, om later nog andere houtsoorten thermisch te modificeren.
LDCwood est une entreprise conjointe (à 50/50) entre Lemahieu Group nv (comprenant Lemahieu et Lempan), en tant qu’importateur de bois
résineux et spécialiste de la transformation du bois, et Decolvenaere Houtimport nv, importateur de bois d’origine africaine.
Pour la première fois, deux importateurs de bois établis ont uni leur vision quant à la qualité et au service.

Om te voldoen aan alle normen en om het ThermoWood® handelsmerk als zijnde te mogen uitdragen, hebben wij ons eveneens aangesloten bij de International ThermoWood Association. Onze producten vallen officieel onder dit label, en daar zijn wij trots op. En tant que premier producteur officiel de ThermoWood® en Belgique, LDCwood entend proposer sur le marché européen un bois rétifié thermiquement de qualité supérieure. Notre production propre nous permet de constituer des stocks suffisants pour répondre rapidement aux demandes de nos clients. Nous souhaitons faire office de partenaire loyal au sein de l’industrie spécialisée de la transformation du bois, soucieux de la qualité et désireux d’offrir un service d’excellence à sa clientèle. Un objectif auquel nous ne pourrions parvenir sans notre équipe. Nous démarrerons nos activités par la rétification thermique de bois Ayous, de Fraké, de Frêne et de Sapin Blanc/Rouge. Nous entendons ainsi atteindre un niveau supérieur de durabilité. Nous modifions ces bois dans le respect de l’environnement. Dans une phase ultérieure, nous étendrons nos activités à la modification d’autres essences de bois dans le cadre de la gamme ThermoWood®. Afin de satisfaire à toutes les normes et d’être dignes de porter l’appellation commerciale ThermoWood® en tant que telle, nous nous sommes affiliés à l’International ThermoWood Association. Nous sommes extrêmement fiers que nos produits portent officiellement ce label. As the first official producer of ThermoWood® in Belgium, LDCwood aims to provide the European market with high-quality thermally treated wood. Thanks to our own production we can build up sufficient stock and thus respond quickly to the demand of the customer. We want to be a loyal partner within the specialised wood-processing industry with an eye for quality and excellent customer service. This can only be achieved together with our team. First, we thermally modify Ayous, Fraké, Ash and Pinewood, in order to attain a higher degree of durability. This wood is processed in an environmentally friendly manner. In a later phase we will also be able to include several other types of wood in the ThermoWood® range. In order to meet all standards and earn the right to display the ThermoWood® trademark, we have also become a member of the International ThermoWood Association. Our products officially fall under this label – something we are very proud of.

ThermoWood® is the result of an innovative process in which heat treatment plays a central role. Thermal modifications ensure that the
durability of the wood increases and its quality improves. The ThermoWood® production process uses heat, steam and water. Wood is heated
for a long period at temperatures up to ± 208°C.

The thermal modification has an effect on

TECHNICAL DETAILS Hout is reeds zeer duurzaam, en de thermische behandeling ervan zorgt voor een nog hogere stabiliteit en duurzaamheid. Hout is samengesteld uit 50% cellulose, 23% hemicellulose, 20% lignine en 7% andere organische stoffen, genaamd extractieresiduen. De thermische behandeling verwijdert hars, andere extracten en hun bijgaande OH of Hydroxylgroepen uit het hout. Dit behandelingsproces vermindert de waterabsorptie van hout en gaat uitzetten en inkrimpen tegen, en verhoogt tegelijkertijd de weerstand tegen verval. Een andere factor die overigens bijdraagt tot de duurzaamheid van het hout, is de kristalisatie van de cellulose. De wijziging in de hemicellulose verhoogt de duurzaamheid. Hemicellulose valt uiteen in furfural- en carbonzuur. De karamelisatie van lignine, die veroorzaakt wordt door de hitte, geeft een donkerdere kleur aan het hout. Ce traitement réduit la capacité d’absorption d’eau du bois et lutte contre la dilatation et la contraction. Il augmente, dans le même temps, la résistance à la détérioration. Un autre facteur qui, du reste, contribue à la durabilité du bois est la cristallisation de la cellulose. La modification dans l’hémicellulose améliore la durabilité. L’hémicellulose se décompose en furfural et en acide carboxylique. La caramélisation de la lignine, induite par la chaleur, donne une coloration plus sombre au bois. Wood is already very long-lasting, and its thermal treatment ensures an even higher stability and durability. Wood is composed of 50% cellulose, 23% hemicellulose, 20% lignin and 7% other organic substances, named extraction residues. This treatment process reduces the water absorption of wood and counters expansion and shrinkage, and simultaneously increases the resistance to decay. Another factor that contributes to the durability of the wood is the crystallisation of the cellulose. The change into hemicellulose increases the durability. Hemicellulose breaks down into furfural and carboxylic acid. The caramelisation of lignin, which is caused by the heat, gives the wood a darker colour.
