In 1972, this plan led to the creation of BAI (Bretagne-Angleterre-
Irlande), a company with the aim of transporting Breton agricultural
produce overseas. In 1974, foreseeing the advent of mass Cross-
Channel passenger traffic, BAI adopted the name Brittany Ferries.
And then, in 1978 the company, whose ships fly the French Flag,
became a tour operator offering a range of self-drive holidays.
Brittany Ferries has followed a long-term strategy to become the
leading sea transporter on the western and central Channel, playing
a major role in the development of the Atlantic Arc, and bringing an
irreplaceable contribution to the regions it serves.
