This document shows you step by step
formalities you MUST carry out once in France so your
“VLS-TS” Visa turns into a student residence permit.

First: The VLS-TS visa: what does it look like?
Please verify the key elements of this visa.
Expiry date:

VLS-TS Visa: who can get it?
Foreigners who are eligible for a residence
permit :
VPF – French citizen’s spouse
Student. You, for example!
visitor
employee (work contract equal or superior to 12 months)
temporary worker (work contract superior to 3 months
and less than 12 months)
Foreigners who CANNOT obtain the VLS-TS
visa
Multiple year residence permit holders
Those who join their family already residing in France
French residence permit holders
Algerian citizens

VLS-TS : consequences for Students
For students granted the VLS-TS, and those whose VLS-TS is
converted to a French residence permit, the following rights and
obligations ensue:
Social benefits (legal texts in progress)
Right to work.
Payment of residence tax upon issuance of first
residence permit
Obligation to renew within 2 months prior to expiry date of the VLS-TS at the
prefecture or with the assistance of ESSEC in case of agreement

You may eat before you go.
Bring any medical record if applicable. Remember: you must go to the
medical visits!

You must bring this document and join the OMI
stamp or ANAEM stamp. The amount is
shown in the box.
1) when you take the medical visit
2) when you finally obtain the OFII label, i.e once
you have validated the whole procedure.
3) buy the stamps online www.timbresofii.fr
or at the Prefecture of Val d’Oise, across ESSEC. amount
Opening hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On left hand side, go to « Trésorerie Générale ».
You may pay in cash, by bank card or check
drawn on a French bank.

OFII process, you will receive a
document titled ‘CERTIFICAT
DE CONTROLE MÉDICAL’
*Please make copies of this
document, keep one with you
and bring one to the OSA
office. It’s a very important
part of your VLS-TS renewal
process.

label should look like!
OFII Label
Caution! The date of the OFII stamp simply indicates when you completed the
medical visit.
It must NOT be confused with the expiry date of your visa.
Look at your visa again, no magic, the date has not changed…

OFII Label VLS-TS Visa
The date of the OFII stamp simply indicates when you completed the medical visit. In
the template on the left, the medical visit took place on 29 March 2011.
The OFII label is proof that the entry visa has been fully converted into a residence
permit.
It must NOT be confused with the expiry date of the visa.
In the template on the right, the VLS-TS expiry date is 15 July 2014.
When renewing your residence permit, you must provide copies of the
visa , ‘Certificat De Controle Médical and the OFII stamp.
