WELCOME TO WINTER
The 112 ski resorts of Savoie Mont Blanc are looking forward to welcoming
guests this winter!
From the world-famous resorts such as Val d’Isère, Méribel, Courchevel,
Chamonix… to the smaller and less known ones like Pralognan-la-Vanoise,
Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc, Valloire… they are all ready and excited about
winter 2021-22.
The choice of accommodation is better than ever with several new hotels,
chalets and residences.
If you opt for slow travel, why not stop for a few nights before or after going
to a ski resort? There are many charming hotels in the pretty towns of
Chambéry and Annecy,
In the valleys and mountains, more and more hotels, residences, ski areas,
transports etc. are eco-friendly. This sustainable trend is being taken up by
restaurants too, which are offering more and more organic, local and
seasonal produce.
Whatever type of winter holiday you choose, Savoie Mont Blanc is the
perfect place to reboot and feel re-energised once back home.
Savoie Mont Blanc is easy to access by train, car and plane (airports
include Chambéry, Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva). There are new flights from
the UK to Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport: Jet 2 flies from
Manchester, London, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol 2 to 3 times a week
from December 2021 to mid-April 2022.

Grand Massif
The Grand Massif ski area has the perfect combination of modern resorts
and old villages. Flaine, the highest resort in the area, was built on a virgin
site in the ’60s by the famous Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer to his
design of a futuristic, car-free resort. The Grand Massif’s four other resorts

The BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup will take place in Annecy-Le Grand-Bor-
nand for the fourth time, from 13 to 19 December 2021. Savoie Mont Blanc
is proud to be the partner of a large event (62,000 spectators) with a low
carbon footprint. Spectators will be driven from the valley to the event by
bus (respecting the Euro 6 emission standard); athletes will sleep in Le
Grand-Bornand so they can walk everywhere; 80% of the infrastructure
are removable; and recycling bins will be available on site.

La Rosière is planting 1,500 trees
La Rosière is committed to planting 1,500 trees over 3 years.
The shoots come from Bourg Saint Maurice (15km away) and
this initiative is accomplished by a partnership with the ONF
(National Office of Forests) and a budget of €8,000 per year.
Trees are natural regulators of our ecosystem; they purify the
atmosphere by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing back
oxygen. Their foliage and root systems filter water. They play
a stabilizing role for the soil by avoiding erosion whilst also
sheltering various forms of flora and fauna. By releasing water
vapor into the atmosphere, trees also participate towards
regulating extreme temperature differences. This phenomenon
impacts the degree of local humidity and helps against
extreme climate variations

A new ski train
The French company Compagnie des Alpes, which
operate many ski lifts companies in France, is
launching the Travel Ski Express, a train service linking
London to Moutiers and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
The service will be provided exclusively via Travelski, a
subsidiary of Compagnie des Alpes. It will sell packages
that combines transportation, shuttle service, lodging,
and ski passes to 6 resorts operated by Compagnie
des Alpes: Tignes, Les Arcs, La Plagne, Méribel, Les
Menuires and Val d’Isère. The Travelski Express will
operate over 16 weekends during the 2021-2022 ski
season, departing from London- Saint Pancras station
on Friday’s nights, for non-stop service to the Moûtiers
and Bourg Saint Maurice stations. Non-stop return
service will be scheduled for Saturdays from Bourg
Saint Maurice and Moûtiers to London-Saint Pancras.
