Projections libérantes Projections libérantes is a creation and production company in contemporary concert music founded in Montreal in 2011 by composer Simon Martin with the aim of having an independent structure, entirely at the service of the art. The music of Simon Martin, imbued with interiority, reveals a mystery that questions us. The narrative of his work/concert is chiselled directly from the subject matter, leading to a quest for the perfection of harmony which simultaneously becomes a wellspring of beauty and drama. Musique d’art (2021) trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium and electronics Presentation Projections libérantes resumes its collaboration with the musicians of Ensemble Musikfabrik to propose a work composed for a group of instruments unique in the world: four double-bell brass instruments. The double bell affords each instrument with instant or perfectly gradual transition between normal playing and muted playing, producing striking timbre effects. Musique d’art (2021) is an international coproduction between Projections libérantes and Ensemble Musikfabrik. Musique d’art (2019) violin, viola, cello, double bass and processing Presentation The first step into the unknown is dissonance. Progress is energized by instability: each new step is proposed as the resolution of what came before. The final step into the unknown is silence. Musique d’art (2015) string quintet and electronics Presentation Through the strings played in unison at times, in a completely erratic fashion at others, a drama unfolds: a utopian conciliation between sound and music, Nature and Man. Hommage à Leduc, Borduas et Riopelle (2012) Presentation Ozias Leduc, Paul-Émile Borduas, Jean Paul Riopelle. Simon Martin sets his sight on the works three great Québécer painters. Three visions of art highlighted by three contrasting ensembles: Trio de guitares contemporain, Quasar quatuor de saxophones et Quatuor Bozzini. This tribute concert delves into our heritage to see how it still resonates with us today, thus “combining creativity and remembrance” (Fernand Dumont, 1971).
