CALL FOR PAPERS: INAUGURAL ISSUE
The Caribbean and COVID-19

The Caribbean Studies Association (CSA) invites you to submit a paper for possible
inclusion in the inaugural issue of The CSA Journal under the broad theme “The
Caribbean and COVID-19”. COVID-19 is having a profound impact on the world, and
the Caribbean specifically. How has the Caribbean been coping? What has been the
impact on the people, including the children? What are some of the successful
strategies employed by the various governments? What are the implications for
tourism, the economy, education, online learning? How has it affected Gender-Based
Violence? How has it influenced our interaction and engagement, now and going
forward? What are the lessons to be learned? We seek a broad cross-section of
disciplines, including contributions looking at intersectionality.

Submission Guidelines

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit their original empirical research
articles, 3,000–7,000 words in length, in any of the five journal languages
(Papiamento, Dutch, French, Spanish, or English). The submission should include an
abstract with no more than 200 words in the original language of the article and, in
the case of those articles in a language other than English, also an abstract in
English. Interested authors must use the Chicago Manual format. Book reviews or
arts exhibit reviews, 750-1,000 words in length, related to the broad theme are also
welcome.

All submitted articles will go through the peer review process. Final decision
regarding acceptance/revision/rejection will be based on the feedback received from
the reviewers and the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.

El Caribe y COVID-19
La Asociación de Estudios del Caribe (CSA, siglas en inglés) le invita a proponer un
artículo para su posible inclusión en la edición inaugural de The CSA Journal bajo el
gran tema “El Caribe y COVID-19”. COVID-19 está teniendo un profundo impacto en
el mundo en general, y en el Caribe en específico. ¿Cómo ha estado el Caribe
manejando la situación? ¿Cuál ha sido el impacto en la gente, incluyendo a los
niños? ¿Cuáles son algunas de las estrategias exitosas empleadas por los distintos
gobiernos? ¿Cuáles son las implicaciones para el turismo, la economía, la educación,
el aprendizaje en línea? ¿Cómo ha afectado a la violencia de género? ¿Cómo ha
influido en nuestra interacción y en nuestro devenir diario, ahora y hacia el futuro?
¿Cuáles son las lecciones que han de ser aprendidas? Aspiramos a recibir escritos en
una amplia variedad de disciplinas, incluyendo contribuciones que analicen la
interseccionalidad.
Guías para la radicación de artículos
Los investigadores y los profesionales están invitados a enviar sus artículos
originales de investigación empírica, con 3,000 a 7,000 palabras de extensión, en
cualquiera de los cinco idiomas de la revista (papiamento, holandés, francés, español
o inglés). El envío debe incluir una sinopsis (un resumen) de no más de 200 palabras
en el idioma original del artículo y, en el caso de los artículos en un idioma distinto
al inglés, también una sinopsis en inglés. Los autores interesados deben utilizar el
formato del Manual de Chicago. Se aceptarán además reseñas de libros o
exhibiciones artísticas relacionadas al gran tema con una extensión de 750 a 1,000
palabras.
Todos los artículos enviados pasarán por el proceso de revisión o arbitraje por pares.
La decisión final con respecto a la aceptación/revisión/rechazo se basará en los
comentarios recibidos de los revisores y la discreción de la Editora en Jefe.

Het Caribisch gebied en COVID-19
De Caribbean Studies Association (CSA) nodigt u uit om een paper in te dienen voor
mogelijke opname in de inaugurele uitgave van The CSA Journal onder het algemene
thema "The Caribbean and COVID-19". COVID-19 heeft een grote impact op de
wereld, en in het bijzonder op het Caraibisch gebied. Hoe is het Caraibisch Gebied
met de veranderde situatie omgegaan? Wat is de impact geweest op de mensen,
inclusief de kinderen? Wat zijn enkele van de succesvolle strategieën, die door de
verschillende regeringen zijn toegepast? Wat zijn de gevolgen voor toerisme, de
economie, het onderwijs, online leren? Is het van invloed geweest op gender
gerelateerd geweld? Hoe heeft het onze interactie en betrokkenheid met elkaar
beïnvloed, nu en in de toekomst? Welke lessen kunnen geleerd worden? We zoeken
een brede interdisciplinaire dwarsdoorsnede inclusief studies casu quo onderzoek,
die verschillende vakdisciplines tegelijkertijd raken.
Richtlijnen voor inzenden
Onderzoekers en mensen uit de praktijk worden uitgenodigd om hun oorspronkelijk
en empirisch onderzoeksartikel in te dienen, minimaal 3000 en maximaal 7000
woorden, in 1 van de 5 talen, waarin het tijdschrift gepubliceerd zal worden
(Papiaments, Nederlands, Frans, Spaans of Engels). De inzending moet een
samenvatting bevatten van niet meer dan 200 woorden in de oorspronkelijke taal
van het artikel. Indien het artikel in een andere taal dan het Engels wordt
gepresenteerd dient er ook een samenvatting in het Engels opgenomen te worden.

Geïnteresseerde auteurs moeten het Chicago Manual-formaat gebruiken.
Boekbesprekingen of kunsttentoonstellingen, minimaal 750 en maximaal 1000
woorden, gerelateerd aan het brede thema zijn ook welkom.
Alle ingezonden artikelen zullen het proces van peer review doorlopen. De
uiteindelijke beslissing met betrekking tot acceptatie, herziening danwel afwijzing
zal worden gebaseerd op de feedback, die is ontvangen van de recensenten en het
oordeel van de hoofdredacteur.

La Caraïbe et le COVID-19
La Caribbean Studies Association (CSA) vous invite à soumettre un article pour une
éventuelle inclusion dans le numéro inaugural du CSA Journal avec pour thème
général « La Caraïbe et le COVID-19 ». Le COVID-19 a un impact profond sur le
monde et les Caraïbes en particulier. Comment la Caraïbe fait-elle face ? Quel a été
l’impact sur les gens, y compris sur les enfants ? Les différents gouvernements ont
initié plusieurs types de stratégies. Parmi ces stratégies, lesquelles se sont révélées
efficaces ? La pandémie a touché de multiples secteurs. Quels impacts sur le
tourisme, sur l’économie, sur l’éducation ou sur l’apprentissage en ligne ? Comment
le virus a-t-il affecté la violence sexiste ? Comment la pandémie change-t-elle notre
rapport à l’autre ? Comment modifie-t-elle notre engagement, celui d’aujourd’hui,
comme celui à venir ? Quelles sont les leçons à en tirer ? Nous acceptons des
propositions issues d’un large éventail de disciplines, y compris des contributions
portant sur l’intersectionnalité.
Directives de soumission

H-LatAm

Les chercheurs et les praticiens sont invités à soumettre des articles de recherche
empiriques originaux, d’une longueur de 3 000 à 7 000 mots, dans l’une des cinq
langues de la revue (papiamento, néerlandais, français, espagnol ou anglais). La
soumission doit inclure un résumé de 200 mots au maximum dans la langue
originale de l’article et, dans le cas d’articles proposés dans une autre langue que
l’anglais, également un résumé en anglais. Les auteurs intéressés doivent utiliser le
style de Chicago. Les critiques de livres ou d'expositions artistiques, d'une longueur
de 750 à 1 000 mots, liées au thème général sont également les bienvenues.
Tous les articles seront soumis à un processus d’évaluation par les pairs. La décision
finale concernant l’acceptation / la révision / le rejet sera fondée sur les
commentaires formulés par les évaluateurs et sera laissée à la discrétion du
rédacteur en chef.
