Spectacle Des concerts devant un public de deux personnes pour Dear Criminals
Pers onne ne sait quand l es salles de spectacle rouvriront, mais l e tri o montréalais Dear Cri minals est
bi en décidé à être le premier groupe à remonter s ur scène, et ce, dès la levée du confinement à
Montréa l. Le groupe compte donner une s érie de 72 miniconcerts du 29 a u 31 mai. Quelques heures
a près la mise en vente des billets, l es concerts a ffichent déjà complet. Lors de cette s érie de concerts
i nti tulée Lone Ride, l e groupe de musique s e produira devant une ou deux personnes, respect des
mes ures de s écurité sanitaire oblige. Ces personnes pourront demander à Dear Cri minals de chanter
l eur chanson préférée parmi les six ti tres présélectionnés. La personne sera entourée de Pl exiglas et on
va l ui faire la chanson yeux dans les yeux, a expliqué Vi ncent Legault, musicien multi-instrumentiste au
s ein de Dear Cri minals.

ma i son ; une journée de prestations d’artistes de chez nous, le dévoilement de la nouvelle mouture des
Révélations Radio-Canada, des s emaines thématiques en s oirée en compagnie de Ya nnick Nézet-Séguin
et de Kent Nagano et une série de concerts avec des musiciens et ensembles de plusieurs régions du
pa ys . Le dimanche 17 mai, soyez prêts pour l e StudioFest, une journée de prestations musicales a nimée
pa r Phi lippe Fehmiu. Dix artistes, notamment Coeur de pirate, Émile Proulx-Cloutier, Les soeurs Boulay,
Il am, et Élisapie, offriront des prestations vi rtuelles d’une vi ngtaine de minutes chacun, dans différents
l i eux et la plupart du temps en direct. Les mélomanes pourront ainsi savourer des prestations live et de

the s ame thing as the old Spotify-integrated Soundrop app that the s treaming servi ce forced to cl ose
down s ix years a go and has only now thought to replace. Despite the old Soundrop a pp being the peak
of s treaming music history. Group Sessions basically allows people with premium Spotify accounts to
s ynchronise their listening. Everyone can either enjoy one person’s playlist, or they ca n all select tunes
us i ng the play queue or a collaborative playlist.

Radio UK : BBC Radio 3 to begin broadcasting new live performances next month
BBC Ra dio 3 has announced plans to begin broadcasting new venue-based live performances a gain.
Sta rti ng i n June, the ra dio station will air daily performances by a va riety of solo musicians a nd duos.
Ea ch wi ll play with no audience a t West London’s Wigmore Hall. Musicians a lready signed up to perform
i ncl ude Imogen Cooper, Lucy Crowe, Iestyn Davies, Benjamin Grosvenor, Angela Hewitt, Paul Lewis,
Ma rk Pa dmore, Ailish Tynan, Mi tsuko Uchida, a nd Roderick Williams. An i nitial run of 20 performances

Spectacle US : America’s First Socially-Distanced Concert Is Gonna Be Complicated
Country-rock a rtist Travis McCready i s planning to host America’s first socially-distanced concert on
Fri day. But i t’s gonna be complicated. Nobody said hosting America’s first socially-distanced concert was
goi ng to be easy. But for country-rock artist Travis McCready of Bishop Gunn, a pparently i t’s worth i t.
The s how, slated for this Friday, Ma y 15th a t TempleLive in Fort Smith, Arkansas, will only be sold at 20%
ca pa city s o that people can keep their distance from one a nother. As a result, the normal venue capacity
of 1,100 wi l l be chopped to 229. But that’s just one of a long list of restrictions and rules that will
a ccompany the s how. According to Ti cketmaster, which is fulfilling tickets for the event, buyers willbe
permi tted to enjoy the show i n groups, but only i n restricted ‘fan pods.’ Each pod, in turn, must be at
l east six feet from a ny other nearby pod, a nd no pod ca n exceed 12 people.

Spectacle Danemark : Live Nation Brings Drive-In Concerts To Denmark
Li ve Na tion today a nnounced the "Drive In – Li ve" tour, which will vi sit four Danish cities between May
a nd June. The tour will s top by Copenhagen, Herning, Aa lborg, Odense and Aarhus. Confirmed Danish
a rti sts include L.O.C., popular Danish radio show Ma ds & Monopolet as well as family entertainer Onkel
Reje. The events will offer room for 600 ca rs per s how and are designed to comply wi th all official
res tri ctions. The audience will be placed further away from the s tage than at a traditional concert,
a ccording to the a nnouncement, the combination of a n extra high s tage and three s creens will ensure a
good vi ewing experience for everyone. Sound will be distributed vi a the car ra dio. Pri ces va ry from
event to event, the ticket cost is per ca r, with up to 5 people per vehicle. Non-alcoholic drinks a nd
s na cks will be a vailable to buy a t all events. In the Danish capital of Copenhagen, where events will take
pl a ce between May 20 a nd June 1, the P19 pa rking s pace of Copenhagen Ai rport will be converted into a
dri ve-in theater. It's the fi rst ti me that the a rea a t Copenhagen Airport is used for concerts.

(hors musique, dont le fonds d’urgence est porté par l e Centre National de la Musique), à titre
exceptionnel et temporaire, afin d’apporter des a ides exceptionnelles et urgentes a ux entreprises de
s pectacles fortement fragilisées par l a pandémie du COVID 19, en raison de l eur a rrêt total d’activité
depuis l e 14 ma rs. Ils en ont confié la mise en œuvre à l’Association de Soutien pour le Théâtre Pri vé
(ASTP). Ce fonds s’adresse aux théâtres et aux tourneurs privés ainsi qu’aux compagnies de s pectacle
vi va nt (théâtre, danse, cirque, a rts de l a rue, marionnette) non subventionnées pour l eur

Pourquoi faudra-t-il réinventer les arts de la scène?
La cri s e sanitaire, frein ra dical aux ra ssemblements, frappe brutalement les salles de spectacles, les
centres culturels et les festivals. Six mois après son ouverture, fort d’un succès i ndéniable, Le Diamant
doi t du jour au lendemain retenir s on souffle et réfléchir, avec les autres, à la reprise.
Le monde du spectacle vi vant est touché en s on cœur même, puisque la ra ison d’être du théâtre, du
ci rque, de l’opéra ou de la l utte repose sur le ra ssemblement. Pendant la pandémie, plusieurs i nitiatives
de tra nsmission à distance apparaissent. Le numérique est évi demment très utile, au même ti tre que l e
tél éphone ou l es balcons. Toutefois, comme certains semblent en rêver, il est dangereux de proposer
que l a diffusion web remplace la fréquentation des théâtres ou des salles de concert. Le numérique fait

UK : One in Five British Musicians Fear Coronavirus Will End Their Careers
Accordi ng to a survey conducted by the Musicians’ Union, 20 percent of British musicians fear that their
professional careers will end as a result of the economic strain brought on by the novel coronavirus.
1,459 Mus i cians’ Union members responded to the survey, which also s hed l ight upon musicians’ a ccess

our peers who a re planning to reopen during the coronavirus disease (COVID -19) pandemic. This
document contains no “best practices” that apply everywhere – coronavirus creates different challenges
depending on countless factors, i ncluding the size of the event, its geographic l ocation, the physical
s pa ce, and the anticipated a ttendees, to name just a few. Instead, in the order one would plan a n event,
we ha ve identified reasonably foreseeable health risks a nd s uggested options to mitigate them. Because
thi s is intended to be used by event professionals, we have tri ed to s trike a balance between a simple

UK : What is the value of exposure when exposure is all there is?
There is a n existential debate going on at the moment, around whether streaming i s payi ng artists
enough. It may feel l ike a rerun of old debates but it i s catalys ed by COVID-19 decimating a rtist
i ncome. In this piece I lay out the underlying economics of the argument. The latest streaming roya lty
debate is not an i solated event. It is happening because COVID-19 has decimated live income, leaving
ma ny a rtists worryi ng about how to make ends meet. Streaming has been the change agent that turned
a round 15 yea rs of decline. But it also completely reframed artist income from recorded music. In the
ol d sales model artists would get a large sum of money i n a relatively s hort period of time. Streaming
i ncome is more like an annuity, a longer-term return where the music keeps payi ng long after release. In
the ol d model a rtists had smaller but high -spending audiences. With streaming they have l arger but
l ower-value audiences.
