Ms. Stiles — That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should immediately direct Metrolinx to introduce, based on international research and experience and in consultation with local communities, safe alternatives to bell ringing at stations on the GO Barrie line, the Union-Pearson Express Stations, and other GO Transit lines, to maintain the safety of transit users while protecting and improving the quality of life and safety of residents living near GO Stations. Mr. Schreiner — That, in the opinion of this House, mental health is as important as physical health, and therefore, mental health services under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan should be expanded significantly in order to ensure that everyone can access the mental health care they need, in a timely manner, without facing financial hardship. Ms. Andrew — That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should amend the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 (RTA) to offer better support to tenants who are being temporarily evicted due to renovations (“renovictions”) and redevelopments (“demovictions”) by requiring developers to: assist with moving logistics and costs; and either pay the difference in rent for a similar unit in the same neighbourhood or provide a housing option deemed acceptable by the tenant that is accessible until the primary residence can be reassumed by the tenant. Ms. Andrew — That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should amend the Hairstyling Program Standard to mandate culturally-responsive training specific to Black and textured hair, and embed this within the Guidelines for the Film and Television Industry with specific timelines for its full implementation, to promote health and safety in Ontario’s film, television and theatre sectors for all performers, create Ontario jobs and build capacity in the province. Ms. French — That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should commit to a strategy to improve accountability and care for aging Ontarians in long-term care and retirement homes, including but not limited to: involving family councils in care decisions; incorporating individualized care plans that consider the cognitive, behavioural, cultural, psychological, nutritional and physical needs of residents; ensuring that payments of fines and penalties incurred by for-profit providers cannot come from funds transferred to agencies by the province; and ensure that the proactive inspection criteria will at least meet the criteria of the cancelled Resident Quality Inspections (RQI) and clearly outline the protocols for such inspections. Ms. Monteith-Farrell — That in the opinion of this House, the government of Ontario should immediately develop and implement a strategy to address the physician shortage in Northwestern Ontario that includes a plan to increase training opportunities at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), recruit new doctors to the area, and retain those already serving the community to better meet the needs of the region. Ms. Singh (Brampton Centre) — That, in the opinion of this House, the Government of Ontario should address the inequity in health care and cancer treatment services such as radiation therapy in central Peel Region through the funding of a new cancer care centre for the city of Brampton by no later than 2026. Mr. Schreiner — That, in the opinion of this House, a Select Committee should be established to develop a comprehensive plan to reform and strengthen the public appointment process in Ontario; and That the Committee should be comprised of representatives from the Government, Official Opposition, and Independent members, with no party holding a majority; and That, in developing its plan and recommendations, the Committee should consider: including merit-based criteria; standardizing transparency measures; making the results of Integrity Commissioner investigations public when appropriate; adding a public complaints and investigation process; and establishing goals to ensure diversity and gender parity in the selection process; and That the Committee should present a report on its findings to the House no later than one year from its inception.
