Contribution Vie Etudiante et de Campus (CVEC) = Tax for student life and campus
The administrative registration depends on the prior discharge of the Contribution Vie Etudiante et de Campus
(CVEC) [= Tax for student life and campus ].
The CVEC is « intended to facilitate the reception and the social, health, cultural and sport support towards students
and to strengthen preventive actions and the health education set up for them ».
So the purpose of this CVEC is to facilitate the development of services which can be useful for stuedents in their
daily life and in their institution as well as the development of benefits offered by the CROUS of their registration
academy.
This CVEC is a tax, in opposition to a contribution unlike a contribution, benefits are not derived on the basis of
the discharge of this CVEC which consists in an involvement in the student life policy conducted as well by the
registration institution as the CROUS.
The CVEC is compulsory and must be settled every year, in accordance with the following terms and conditions :

Liability insurance
Any registration at a higher education institution is subject to the compulsory presentation of a supporting document
regarding the liability insurance.
In the case of a liability insurance already taken out, the terms “Liability Insurance Coverage for Student Life and
Personal Privacy / Garantie Responsabilité Civile Etudiante & Vie Privée” have to be explicitly specified on the
supporting document. If the the contract doesn’t cover the entire academic year, it is necessary to undertake to
renew it in order to assure its coverage until the end of the academic year.
Otherwise, an organisation can be chosen by oneself and the supporting document must explicitly specify the
words mentioned above.

EXEMPTION BY INDIVIDUAL DECISION
Upon regsitration
Partial exemption
For teh academic year 2020/2021, the non-EU applicants accepted in the institution and subjected to the
payment of the differenciated registration fees will pay the same amount of registration fees as the EU
students without having to ask for explicitly. This exemption applies only for the academic year 2020/2021.
The students registered at the institution since the start of the academic year 2019/2020 are also partially
exempted and will pay the same amount of registration fees as the EU students without having to ask for
explicitly..
Total exemption
If one of the following situations can be proved, students will benefit from a total exemption :
student in regular training, in registration because of an insufficient English level, without any linguistic
support ;
3rd year Engineer student, awaiting a transcript, after a stay abroad ;
student beneficiary of refugee or subsidiary protection status or person whose the father, the mother or the
legal representative benefits from this status or protection.
By decision of the President of the Grenoble Institute of Technology
The students who face financial difficulties can ask for a fees exemption by personal decision. The demands for
an exemption by decision of the President of the Grenoble Institute of Technology are processed by the Social
Student Commission.
The applicants who are interested in such an exemption must quickly contact the registrar’s office of their
school to obtain a file for the exemption demand.
In the case of a registration online, a demand of refund will be possible.
REFUND
Students who give up their registration before the start of the course
The refund of fees is automatic when the student gives up her·his registration before the start of the course.
A sum of money, whose amount is set by a ministerial order, remains acquired to the institution by way of
handling charges.
Students who give up their registration after the start of the course
The students who give up their registration after the start of the academic year can submit a request for a
refund of fees, separately from their resignation letter, according to the criteria defined by the Executive
Board dated December 13, 2012, specifically :
personal circumstances of the student (or her·his family), forcing her·him to stop her·his studies,
medical condition of the student (or one of her·his close family members), justifying the stop of the training,
situation of the student forced by an administrative or legal decision to be no more present at the course
(apart from a disciplinary sanction),
registration at an institution other than a French Public Higher Education Institution,
a student who has found a stable employment.
The request for a refund is submitted to the decision of the President of the Grenoble Institute of Technology
and the potential refund will be subject to the following conditions :
If the resignation occurs :
- before September 15, the refund covers the whole fees (except administrative costs whose amount is
specified in the yearly order setting fees).
- between September 15 and December 15, the refund is partial and is equal to 8/12th of the registration
amount (except administrative costs whose amount is specified in the yearly order setting fees).
In any case, the request for a refund must be submitted before December 15 of the current year : after this
date, none refund will be granted.
In any case, if the refund is granted, it will occur only on next January.

Transfer of a registration towards another institution
In the case of a transfer of a registration towards another institution, the refund of fees is automatic.
A sum of money, whose amount is set by a ministerial order, remains acquired to the institution by way of
handling charges.
On the other hand, none refund is granted if the transfer occurs at the end of the 1st semester.

It is necessary to specify the year of the first registration at a French Higher Education Institution. This includes :

Auditeurs Libres, i.e. Unregistered Students, attend a programme without sitting an examination, have to enclose
the supporting document according to which the School’s Director allow them to do so.
CONCURRENT REGISTRATION WITH ANOTHER INSTITUTION
The Grenoble Institute of Technology being the main admission institution, the payment of the fees is required in
their entirety.
