On this weekend we celebrate the feast of St. Jean Baptiste, patron
Saint of Quebec. The holiday can be enjoyed by all Quebeckers.

The Blessing of Protection
This weekend is the start of the summer break for all our school children. May
they all have a happy and safe summer vacation. Please keep them in your prayers
and also all the school teachers and support staff.

The Blessing of Faith
On June 29th, we observe the martyrdom of Saint Peter and Saint Paul,
Apostles of Christ. St. Peter was our first Pope and was crucified in Rome.
He asked to die upside down as he felt unworthy to be crucified as Jesus
was. All Popes are the successors of Peter and Catholics observe the
Apostolic Succession. The Holy Father is the “Vicar of Christ” on earth.
Saint Paul, also called an Apostle after his amazing conversion, was beheaded also in Rome. Both
brave men died under the regime of the wicked Emperor Nero. St. Peter and St. Paul, pray for us
The Blessing of Sacrifice
On June 30th, we remember the “First Martyrs of the Holy Roman
Church.” These wonderful people were put to death in the most
unspeakable ways under Nero; thrown to the lions for sport, made
into human torches, beheaded and other horrible tortures. Nero
had set Rome on fire and when suspicion fell on him, he falsely accused the Christians. They kept
the Faith! Holy Martyrs of Rome, pray for us

Pope Francis’ Prayer Intentions
For July That Catholics may place the celebration of the EUCHARIST at the
heart of their lives, transforming human relationships in a very deep way and
opening to the encounter with GOD and all their brothers and sisters.
The Blessing of Virtue
On July 6th, we celebrate the feast of Saint Maria Goretti, patron Saint of young
women. She was attacked and murdered at the age of 12 years old. She rebuffed
the advances of her 18 year old neighbour. On her deathbed she forgave him.
He was imprisoned for 30 years and when released joined a monastery. He lived
to see her canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1950. St. Maria Goretti, pray for us
On July 11th, we celebrate the feast of Saint Benedict, the father of Western Monasticism of which
he is considered the Patriarch. He wrote the Rule and it is still followed today. We are blessed to
have the “Abbaye Sainte Marie” in our area and they are devout, Benedictine, cloistered Nuns.

On July 26th, we celebrate the feast of Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, the
parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We are fortunate to have the Basilica at
Saint Anne de Beaupre in Quebec. It is a much visited Shrine and pilgrims
come from all over to pray at this holy site.
