Aligoté
The 'other' white Burgundy grape - often overlooked, but this is a stunner from the co-director of the iconic
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Flinty, textured, fresh and long - a great alternative to Chablis.

Sauvignon Blanc | Pinot Blanc | Friulano
One of Italy's most prestigious white wines, first produced in 1981, this is exotic, intense and extremely complex.
Definitely one to try.

Pinot Noir
Santenay is the most southerly village in the Côte de Beaune and offers excellent value for money compared to
some of its bigger name neighbours. Bright, crunchy cherry and cranberry with typical Pinot freshness.

Cabernet Sauvignon | Merlot | Petit Verdot
Fieuzal flies under the radar but nearly always delivers wines that are equally delicious when drunk young or
cellared. This full, rich and complex - truffled and smoked with lots of cherry and cassis. Sheer pleasure to drink.

Cabernet Sauvignon | Merlot | Petit Verdot
Lagrange is always balanced and approachable. Nicely mature now, the 1996 is still powerful but with that earthy,
tobacco and cedar character so beloved in older claret, alongside fresher violet and cassis.
Château Leoville Barton, 2ème Cru Classé, Saint-Julien, France 2003 £165
Cabernet Sauvignon | Merlot | Cabernet Franc
2003 was a blockbuster of a vintage and Leoville is a blockbuster of a wine. The sheer concentration of flavour
and power that is packed in here is remarkable. Cassis, raspberry, leather and liquorice leap out but after an hour
or two in a decanter and that list would be as long as the Medoc Marathon. Extraordinary good value wine, as
ever, from the Bartons.

Crisp, juicy red fruit aplenty in this excellent value red Burgundy, the most
southerly in all of the Côte de Beaune and said to have 'the soul of Volnay and the
body of Pommard'.

Classic Côte Rôtie from one of the great masters of the region. Rostaing avoids
new oak flavours, instead letting the Syrah shine through - wild blackberry, olive
and smoked meat, with fine tannins and texture. Further proof of the majesty of
Syrah.

Fully mature, classically-made claret from the ever-reliable Talbot. This is
intensely savoury, with plenty of typical cedar, smoke and dried fig character.
