rieslings of dönnhoff
the dönnhoff family rst came to the nahe region 250 years ago, establishing a
traditional farm in the village of oberhäusen in nahe. the estate was started by
helmut dönnhoff’s grandfather in the 1920s, but it wasn’t until 1971 when he turned
his full attention to producing quality wine. helmut worked the vines in oberhäusen,
expanding slowly and naturally. his success followed hard work, commitment and
understanding that “the vineyards speak for themselves - you just have to hear them.”
in the 40+ years that have passed since helmut began his work, torch has been
passed to his son cornelius, but the commitment to excellence and transparency
remained constant with their consistency in quality, second to none.
niederhauser hermannshöhle has been rated the best site in the nahe for more than
100 years. it’s the benchmark by which all other sites are judged. perfect, steeply
sloping vineyard with black/grey slate soil with volcanic elements.

often people ask me ‘what’s your favorite wine jin?” and to that i casually say that
‘any good wine is my favorite.’ but when the sun, moon and the stars align, wines
can hit you like a lightning…like love! these moments help me shape the way i
view the wines. klaus peter’s wine hit me with a jolt of lightning few years back.

chateau musar was founded in 1930 by gaston hochar in bekaa valley of lebanon.
it wasn't until gaston’s son serge took over the helm in 1959 that wines gained its notoriety.
after receiving recognition from michael broadbent at 1979 bristol wine fair, chateau musar
drew an international cult-like following ever since. owing to his inspiring determination
and passion for his wines, serge received an inaugural ‘man of the year' from decanter
magazine in 1984, and is one of the most written-about and discussed wine today.
estate blanc are made from ancient lebanese grape varieties obaideh and merwah.
reputedly the ancestors of chardonnay and semillon. the vines are phylloxera-free
on their original roots, and its style is rich and intensely aromatic.
estate rouge are made with combination of cabernet sauvignon, carignan and cinsault.
wines are bottle aged for of 7 years before release, and are capable of prolonged aging.
