¶ The rare first edition. Espanet studied homeopathy with Chargé,
Rapou, Pétroz and Tessier. Was physician at the agricultural colony founded by
the Trappists at Staouéli (Algeria), but for health reasons he returned to France
(Montélimar). During the period 1851 and 1881 he published extensively on
homeopathy. His “Pratique de l’Homoeopathie (1847) was many times re-published
until 1952. --(Many underling and some annotation in contemporary ink; two stamps
on title; with the usual browning for Ballière publications of the period). Rozet A225.

¶ First edition of Antoine Jourdan’s (1788-
1848) French translation of the “Organon”,
a highly esteemed translation, but for others
questionable. This 1832 edition is quite
rare indeed. A brief publishing history of
the French translation of the ‘Organon” is:

(very rare, only a few copies known); Paris & Lyon, Bohaire, 1832, translated by
Von Brunnow after the second German edition; Dresden, Arnold 1832, translated

¶ Rozet A 366. The very rare second, (only a few
copies in the WorldCat), and much expanded, edition
of this important text. Hahnemann wrote this work
in Paris during the last years of his life. In this work
Hahnemann gives the history of 22 medicines and their
application in chronic diseases. It is an indispensable
complement to his “Organon”. It is Hahnemann’s last
work, and includes in extension his “Psora-Lehre”. --

¶ First edition. This so-called “second series” is
nothing else than the remaining sheets of the first edition of 1850 for which
a new half-title, title and printed wrappers were produced (titre & couverture
de relai), and the word “Deuxième série” was added. The work comprisses
some important smaller writings of Hahnemann, and the clinical observations
of Christoph Hartung. This 1855 issue was re-issued again in 1856, 1873 and
1885, most probably with the remainders of the sheets of the first edition. -

His “Homöopatischer Hausartz (1835), a great classic of Homoeopathic literature, was first translated into French in 1849, followed by a second and enlarged French edition in 1850. Between 1855 and 1891 5 more Baillière editions where published. First published in 1886, this book conquered Europe instantly. It was translated into many languages, and reprinted many times. ¶ Rozet A 557. First French edtion of a commercially big hit. Mattei distributed his
medicines in the dispensories of many countries, to name but a few: Russia, Caucasus,
Swiss, Italy, England, France, Germany, America, etc. “Electrohomoeopathy (or
Mattei cancer cure) is a derivative of homeopathy invented in the 19th century by
Count Cesare Mattei. The name is derived from a combination of electro (referring
to an electric bio-energy content supposedly extracted from plants and of therapeutic
value, rather than electricity in its conventional sense) and homeopathy (referring to
an alternative medicinal philosophy developed by Samuel Hahnemann in the 18th
century) ... Lucrative for its inventor and popular in the late nineteenth century,
electrohomoeopathy has been described as “utter idiocy” ... it is regarded by the
medical and scientific communities as pseudoscience and its practice as quackery”
(Wikipedia). 55.00€

¶ The pharmacist J. Vignon was one of the 9 French followers of Mattei’s électro-
homoeopathie. A very rare piece of ephemerata of which we could not record any

Contemporary half green straight grained morocco, spine gilt lettered and decorated (front joint weak). ¶ With a very fine lithographed double portrait of Molinary and Hahnemann by Warnots Philippe de Molinari played an important role in the history of Belgian homeopathy. He founded, i.a., the periodical “L’Homoeopathie belge”. This work, here in second edition is particularly rare. The work by Espanet is here in first (and only) edition and is a classic French homeopathic work.Rozet A 225 & A 574. ¶ A strong plea for a chair of alternative medicine in the universiteis of Belgium, the
Netherlands and Luxembourg. The both volomes are rarely offered for sale together.

¶ Paz, directeur du Grand Gymnase Médical, was the most ardent promotor of
Gymnastics in France those days, and became the French champion of gymnastics.
During his youth Paz was curred from neuralgic complains as the result of
gymnastics exercise and hydrotherapy. He took up studies in anatomy, physiology
and gymnastics. He was a student of H. Triat, the precursor of power lifting. 45.00€

epoque. It is an replacement for the than obsolete
