Le Petit Château des Cèdres - Mouchamps
REMARKABLE B&BS IN VENDÉE
The sweet scent of the Roaring Twenties
In the 1920s, Le Petit Château des Cèdres was owned by Ernest
Beaux, perfumer to the Russian Tsar but best-known as the man
behind many of Chanel’s classic fragrances, including Chanel No.
5. At the time, the château was a hotbed of fashion, couture and
perfume, playing host to Ernest’s close friend Coco Chanel.
The château, located in Mouchamps, re-opened as a hotel in May
2017, complete with five themed guest rooms and suitable for
people with reduced mobility. The Onésime suite is situated in the
former library. The Clemenceau suite pays homage to the former
French Prime Minister, whose tomb is located in the town. The
Vendéen room is a reminder that, wherever you are in Vendée, the
sea is never far away. The No. 5 room is shrouded in the mysterious
story behind the sumptuous fragrance, created in this very location.
And the Guilbaud room tells the story of the famous, dashing aviator.

L’Un et l’Hôte - Saint Laurent sur Sèvre
A former whash-house
L’Un et l’Hôte stands at the meeting point of Vendée, Maine et
Loire and Deux-Sèvres. Open all year round, it is situated in the
former Saint Joseph wash-house in Saint Laurent sur Sèvre. Just
10 minutes from Le Puy du Fou® , the building has been tastefully
renovated and now features three guest rooms in an idyllic setting
on the banks of the Sèvre.
REMARKABLE B&BS IN VENDÉE
A potted history: There is one mill every 300 metres in Saint
Laurent sur Sèvre. Some, like the Bodet mill, were in operation

until the 20 century. Bought in 1867, this mill was converted
into the Saint Joseph wash-house. "L'Un et l'Hôte" is a B&B
created in part of the former wash-house, a listed Bâtiments de
France building. The 3 rooms have been tastefully decorated.

Moulin Pont Vieux - Mortagne sur Sèvre
A former corkscrew factory
Moulin Pont Vieux is situated near Le Puy du Fou ® in Vendée,
nestled in the Sèvre Nantaise valley, below the Château de
Mortagne-sur-Sèvre. The property was built by the lord of
Mortagne in 1567. Initially a flour mill, it has had various uses
during its history – a dyeing factory in the 19 th century, a
Zig-Zag corkscrew factory in the 20 th century, and now tourist
accommodation.
The main house boasts four rooms, with a fifth room in an
outbuil-ding. The property is the ideal place to relax and unwind
after trip to Le Puy du Fou, a brisk walk or an energetic day’s

Le Relais de chasse - Saint-Hilaire-de-Loulay
This property is a fully renovated former hunting lodge dating
back to 1836. The owners, Marie and Alain, have created a B&B
that inspires travel, complete with two warm, inviting rooms – one
in a New York style, and the other inspired by Megève.
This B&B is situated at the heart of the village of Saint-Hi-
laire-de-Loulay, offering a peaceful setting with views across the

Le Château de la Flocellière - La Flocellière
REMARKABLE B&BS IN VENDÉE
A historic location
This place, steeped in history and a listed “Historic Monument”,
features two new self-catering properties – Le Donjon (for 10 guests)
and Le Pavillon Louis XIII (for 12-14 guests). Each property, rated
5 stars in 2017, has its own separate entrance and gardens or a
terrace where guests can relax in the peaceful surroundings or dine
outdoors. Guests can also take a walk in the landscaped grounds, or
enjoy a spot of fishing or canoeing on the lake and the heated pool

La Boisnière - Mouilleron en Pareds
Spanning history and architecture
La Boisnière is a fully renovated B&B situated in a former farm, just
30 minutes from Le Puy du Fou® and the Marais poitevin. The
property boasts four guest rooms, open all year round, in
flower-lined, landscaped grounds of 2 hectares complete with pool
(open April to October).
La Boisnière is situated high up on the Colline des Moulins, along a
footpath known as the Sentier des Meuniers. It is a placed both
steeped in history and known for its stunning architecture. Guests at
La Boisnière in Mouilleron-en-Pareds will find themselves in the
native land of two greats of French politics – Georges Clemen-
ceau and Marshal Jean de Lattre de Tassigny (the Musée Natio-
nal des Deux Victoires, which celebrates the two men’s wartime
feats, is located in the centre of the village). Guests can also
explore the local architectural jewels, such as the abbeys of southern
Vendée, the Tour Mélusine in Vouvant, and the castle keep (Donjon)

L’Orcelière - Aizenay
REMARKABLE B&BS IN VENDÉE
L’Orcelière is located in the town of Aizenay in central Vendée, 30
km from the coast. This charming property has been recently
renovated and converted into a B&B by the owner, Marie.
L’Orcelière features four rooms, each tastefully and elegantly
decorated – the Gabrielle and Eugénie rooms (king-sized bed or
twin beds) and the Justine and Marinette rooms (queen-sized
bed).
All rooms have a private terrace, complete with garden furniture,
overlooking the grounds. Each room has a shower room with
multi-jet shower, double washbasin, robes, slippers, complimen-
tary products, private toilet, flat-screen TV and lounge area.
On the outskirts of the property, visitors can access the footpaths
that run along the river Vie. Each morning, Marie prepares a
small breakfast consisting of pastries, bread, crêpes, preserves,
fruit salads, hot drinks and fruit juices – all served in the dining L’Orcelière - Aizenay

This charming property, designed like a village and renovated in
2018, offers three rooms and two suites linked by an alleyway, and
stands in the heart of Port Joinville. The house has a bright dining

Gilles Croix de Vie, Le Manoir de l’Eolière (part of which dates back
to 1885, and was built by the Count of Graslin) stands in stunning

on the site of a former farm located 300 m from the beach. This extraordinary holiday destination forms part of a vast environmen-
tal project. Interestingly, Damien and Marylène Lamy (known as Marylou) used many of the old materials removed from the demo-

This 18 th century listed Historic Monument has been transformed
into a stunning 4-star hotel, steeped in tradition yet with a touch of

Bastide Saint Antoine in Grasse and Le Relais Plaza in Paris. His
creative, elegant dishes, using locally grown produce, are matched
with organic wines hand-picked by the restaurant’s sommelier.
