The European Union in a changing world order
Antonina Bakardjieva Engelbrekt ; Niklas Bremberg ; Anna
Michalski ; Lars Oxelheim (eds.)
London : Palgrave Macmillan, 2019
Online access
"The book’s interdisciplinary approach brings together scholars
from economics, law, and political science to provide a
comprehensive analysis of how shifts in the international order
affect the global position of the EU in dimensions such as
foreign and security policy, trade, migration, populism, rule of
law, and climate change. All chapters include policy
recommendations which make the book particularly useful for
decision makers and policy advisors, besides researchers and
students, as well as for anyone interested in the future of the
EU."

democracy : Brexit and beyond
Richard Rose
London : Palgrave Macmillan, 2020
Online access
"The EU relies on international treaties for its authority to make
policies. Chapters analysing referendum voting on Europe in
Britain, Greece and the Netherlands show that cultural values
can have a stronger influence than class. The book uses Brexit
– the British referendum in which a majority voted for the UK
leaving the European Union – as the leading example of a
conflict between national voters and the EU. However, taking
back control of policymaking does not ensure effective
policymaking when success depends not only on what the
British Parliament does but also on decisions taken in
Brussels, Washington and elsewhere."
La différenciation entre les États membres de
l'Union européenne
Aikaterini Angelaki
Bruxelles : Bruylant, 2020
Online access

state
Antonina Bakardjieva Engelbrekt ; Karin Leijon ; Anna
Michalski ; Lars Oxelheim (eds.)
London : Palgrave Macmillan, 2020
Online access
"This book explores the complex and ever-changing
relationship between the European Union and its member
states. The recent surge in tension in this relationship has been
prompted by the actions of some member state governments
as they question fundamental EU values and principles and
refuse to implement common decisions seemingly on the basis
of narrowly defined national interests. Furthermore, Brexit
forces the EU for the first time to face the prospect of a major
member state preparing to leave the Union. Are these
developments heralding the return of the nation-state, and if
so, in what form?"
Controlling EU agencies : the rule of law in a
multi-jurisdictional legal order
Miroslava Scholten ; Alex Brenninkmeijer (eds.)
Cheltenham : Edward Elgar Publishing, 2020
Online access
"Expert multi-disciplinary contributors explore the potential of
interconnecting different concepts and types of controls, as
well as different outputs of EU agencies, to address the
challenges and limitations that individual types of control
present. Insightful chapters analyse these issues in relation to
individual concepts of control – autonomy, accountability,
effective judicial protection, deference, protection of
fundamental rights, transparency, liability – as well as
specifically for different types of agencies’ outputs, including
both soft and hard laws."

internationale
Thierry Bonneau
Bruxelles : Bruylant, 2020
Online access
The European Union and international dispute
settlement
Marise Cremona ; Anne Thies ; Ramses A. Wessel (eds.)
Oxford : Hart Publishing, 2017
Online access
"This monograph explores the connections between the
European Union and international dispute settlement. It
highlights the legal challenges faced by the principal players in
the field: namely the EU as a political actor and the Court of
Justice of the EU as an international and domestic judiciary. In
addition, it places the subject in its broader context of
international dispute settlement, and the participation of the EU
and its Member States in international disputes. It focuses on
horizontal and cross-cutting themes, bringing together insights
from the different sectors of trade, investment and human
rights, and offering a variety of perspectives from academics,
policymakers and practitioners."

Kathryn C. Lavelle
New Haven : Yale University Press, 2020
Online access
"Kathryn Lavelle offers a history of multilateralism from its
origins in the nineteenth century to the present. Lavelle focuses
on the creation and evolution of major problem-solving
organizations, examines the governmental challenges they
have confronted and continue to face from both domestic and
transnational constituencies, and considers how
nongovernmental organizations facilitate their work."
Théories des relations internationales
Dario Battistella ; Jérémie Cornut ; Élie Baranets
Paris : Presses de Sciences Po, 2019
Online access

to competition
Yuan Feng
Abingdon : Picador, 2019
Online access
"This book thoroughly analyzes China’s political ideas
regarding the international order and their reflection in China’s
engagement in multilateralism. It introduces the debates and
discussions that take place among Chinese intellectuals in the
study of international relations as an important part of non-
western international relation theories, generating reflections
on the convergences and divergences between China’s
political ideas and Europe-centric perspectives. With a focus
specifically on China’s main bilateral and multilateral relations
in its principal regions of interest – East Asia and Central Asia
– the book also examines China’s relationship with the United
States, Russia, and the European Union, and the One Belt One
Road initiative."
Syrian civil war : the essential reference guide

"This book provides a thorough introduction to the origins,
events, and impact of the devastating Syrian Civil War,
illuminating the complexities and the consequences of this
long-lasting conflict. From the emergence of the war in early
2011 following the Arab Spring that swept across the Middle
East, to the rise of the Islamic State (ISIS), through the re-
establishing of control of most of the country by Syrian
president Bashar al-Assad's armed forces by late 2018, this
comprehensive work covers every aspect of this conflict that
has devastated millions."

Bernard Rougier (ed.)
Paris : PUF, 2020
Available at Council Library Main Collection (105899)
Vincent Mayet
Paris : Robert Laffont, 2019
Available at Council Library Main Collection (105901)
vendre, a totalement bouleversé notre quotidien. À quoi
ressemble ce monde inventé par Jeff Bezos? Jusqu’où ira-t-il
dans sa conquête de l’avenir? Quel prix payons-nous en le
laissant s’imposer ainsi? Comment nous, Européens,
pouvons-nous, devons-nous répondre à l’émergence
d’entreprises aussi puissantes?"
