TOPIC 1: SPORTS AND RECREATION
Ask what sports your friend plays – Quels sports pratiques-tu?
Say you play football and basketball – Je joue au foot et au basket.
Say you sister plays netball and tennis – Ma soeur joue au net-ball et au tennis.
Say you do swimming and gymnastics – Je fais de la natation et de la gymnastique.
Say your brother does judo – Mon frère fait du judo.
Ask what sport your pen pal likes/prefers – Quel sport aimes-tu? / Quel sport préfères-tu?
Say you like volleyball but prefer windsurfing – J’aime le volley-ball mais je préfère la planche à
voile.
The teacher asks what is your favourite sport – Quel est ton sport préféré?
Say that your favourite sport is cricket – Mon sport préféré c’est le cricket.
Say that you love cricket – J’adore le cricket.
Say that your father likes table tennis quite a bit – Mon père aime bien le ping-pong.

Say that you and your family watch TV/movies/DVDs – Ma famille et moi regardons la télé/des
films/des DVD.
Say that you read books/comics – Je lis des livres/des BD.

Say the class listens to musique – La classe écoute de la musique.
Say your little brother plays on the computer and surfs the Internet – Mon petit frère joue sur

Accepting an invitation
Yes, OK/good idea/great/I’d like that very much/I wouldn’t mind – Oui, d’accord/bonne

Ask when/at what time – Quand/A quelle heure?
Ask where you shall meet your friend – On se retrouve où?
Say you shall meet at your house/at his house/in front of the cinema – On se retrouve chez
moi/chez toi/devant le cinéma.

Declining an invitation
I’m sorry, but I can’t - Je suis désolé(e), mais je ne peux pas.
Say you have to do homework/go out with your parents/tidy your room – Je dois faire mes
