Relating to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), this mandatory European product safety regulation is focused
R10 more specifically on electrical products fitted to ‘on-road’ vehicles. It is more stringent than CE due to the
greater danger of electrical interference causing a dangerous situation. It regulates EMC for wheeled vehicles.
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is the branch of electrical engineering concerned with the unintentional
generation, propagation and reception of electromagnetic energy which may cause unwanted effects such as
electromagnetic interference (EMI) or even physical damage in operational equipment.

UNECE has developed two classifications for warning lights. Class I (night) and Class II (Day) both have
R65 minimum and maximum light output requirements. Class II, as a minimum should be 2.3 x brighter than
Class I. Category X - Directional warning light, Category T - 360º of light, Category HT - 270º. R65 can only be
approved for Amber, Blue & Red.

A mandatory European product marking and certification system which indicates the product’s compliance
with some European product safety, health, and environmental requirements relevant to that particular
CE
product. Placing this mark on a product signifies that the product conforms to the EMC directive (2014/30/EU), 3
RoHS and where applicable the low voltage directive (2014/35/EU).

ICAO characteristics, configuration, material and performance of warning lights used in international air navigation.

Is a standard created by the International Special Committee on Radio Interference which consists of limits and methods
CISPR of measurement of radio disturbance characteristics for the protection of receivers used on board vehicles. CISPR 25
25 tests to a much broader frequency range than UNECE REG 10, and looks at additional bands such as DAB radio.

At ECCO, we have our own extensive in-house testing facilities. Our fully equipped test laboratory allows us to
develop and validate our own products and ensure we maintain the same high level of manufacture through
conformity of production testing. We really put our products through their paces, using accelerated testing to
replicate real life scenarios such as high and low temperatures, weather and vibrations. We simulate the harshest
of environments in our test facility, subjecting our products to temperatures from as low as -40°C, right up to +85°C,
humidity, tracked vehicle vibrations and extended corrosion soaks. We take quality very seriously, so we put our
products through a complete set of performance tests that are more stringent than regular industry standards.

The majority of ECCO products are sold around the world into various environmental conditions and into different
4 applications, generally fitted to the outside of a vehicle. The ECCO Standard subjects our products to not only the industry
standard test specification regime but extended or further tests to determine if the product is fit for purpose in
most, if not all of the applications. Products are therefore designed and manufactured to meet the harsh environmental
conditions wherever they are installed. Above and beyond the required standard for temperature and humidity
chamber, corrosion chamber, dust chamber, vibration table, emissions, anechoic chamber and light tunnel.
