L'Union Européenne a mis en place le réglement (UE) EPI 2016/425 qui définit les exigences en matière de sécurité que les EPI (Équipement de
Protection Individuelle) doivent satisfaire afin de préserver la santé et d’assurer la sécurité des utilisateurs.
Les risques sont classés en 3 catégories principales : risques mineurs, risques graves et risques majeurs.
Pour couvrir ces catégories, les équipements de protection individuelle (EPI) suivent le même classement :
Catégorie I : EPI de protection simple, risques mineurs. Auto-certification CE
Catégorie II : EPI destinés à protéger contre les dangers non mortels, risques graves. Certification par organisme notifié.
Catégorie III : EPI de conception complexe, destinés à protéger contre les risques majeurs et irréversibles. Certification par un
organisme notifié, assurance qualité, maintenance et formation obligatoires.
The European Union approved the (EU) PPE 2016/425 regulation. This regulation applies to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). It lays
down the conditions governing its placing on the market and free movement within the Community and the basic safety requirements
which PPE must satisfy in order to ensure the health protection and safety of users.
Personal Protective Equipments covered by this directive are divided into 3 categories: ‘Simple’ design, ‘Intermediate’ design and
‘Complex’ design.
In order to cover these categories, the same ranking is used for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Category I: simple protection PPE for minor risks. CE Auto-certification
Category II: PPE aimed at protecting against non-lethal dangers, serious risks. Certification is made by an authorized organism.
Category III: Complex protection - PPE for protection against lethal dangers or serious and irreversible injury. Certification is made
by a notified body, with EC quality control system for the final product II and System for ensuring EC quality of production by means
of monitoring, as well as training.
