Différents types de projets

R&D PROJECTS to address technological innovations gaps: projects to develop
specific technologies and concepts needed to realise the value chains, and to
prove the principles in pilot installations

DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS
 To integrate and deploy technologies and R&D results into actual value chains
 To bring technology close to commercial scale through upscaling in
  demonstration activities

FLAGSHIP PROJECTS
 To optimise technology for biomass conversion and ensure price-
  competitiveness: both by building new operations and upgrading existing and
  abandoned industrial sites to be converted into biorefinery operations

Research and Innovation Action

“R&D projects“
Funding rate : 100% (+25%) for RTOs, non-profit, SME
Large industry contribute in-kind (0% funding rate)

 The industry contribution ideally should aim to cover half of the total budget of
   the project. The level of contribution by industry will be taken into account
   during the evaluation of the project proposal.

 Beneficiaries can request a lower reimbursement rate for their eligible costs, to
   match BBI JU contribution.

Innovation Action (IA)

“Demo projects“
Funding rate: 70% (100 % for non-profit organisations) (+25%)
     Ideally, industry's contributions will cover at least 50 % of the total budget, including
      additional activities where appropriate.
     either through in kind contribution to eligible costs only or by a combination of in kind
      contributions and additional activities.
     For demonstration projects additional activities are optional.

“Flagship projects“
Funding rate: 70% (100 % for non-profit organisations) (+25%)
   Industry's in kind contributions will represent at least 30 % of the total eligible costs, which
    is supplemented with a level of additional activities that is expected to be much larger than
    in demonstration projects and commensurate with the commercial scale of the activities
    proposed.

Additional activities

 Additional activities are activities by the partners of a project beyond the EC-project
   but which are necessary to ensure reaching the industrial objectives of the project and
   the KPIs

 There are two types of AA
     Linked to a BBI JU project (e.g. the total capex of equipment used in the BBI project, or
      equipments used to exploit the result of the project)
     Contributing to the PPP objectives beyond the BBI JU funded actions (e.g. other
      investments carried out by industry and broadly contributing to the PPP objectives, such
      as the construction of a plant without BBI funding after a BBI demo project)

 Additional activities reflect biobased industries investment in Europe.
