Une nouvelle année 2018 commence, en musique !
Après une rentrée académique et une première partie de saison très denses, l’année 2017 s’est clôturée avec la 8e édition
du «Music Chapel Festival» à Flagey, consacrée à la thématique du «Duo». Ce 8e festival fut non seulement un grand
cru au niveau artistique, il a été aussi un énorme succès de fréquentation accueillant plus de 5000 mélomanes, toutes
générations confondues, du 6 au 10 décembre dernier.
Le début de l’année 2018 s’annonce très intense:
• Sur le plan artistique : Les projets autour de la musique de chambre interdisciplinaire étant de plus en plus ambitieux,
il est apparu nécessaire de compléter l’équipe artistique autour de Miguel da Silva dans cette section, avec un
« guest master » : Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. Ce pianiste est un des meilleurs chambristes de sa génération, et
possède une profonde connaissance du répertoire. Nous lui souhaitons beaucoup de succès dans la poursuite de sa
mission auprès de la jeune génération !
• Sur le plan de la diffusion :
1. La saison MuCH, dans la salle Haas-Teichen à la Chapelle, tient ses promesses avec :
→→ Trois concerts de Nouvel An: Roby Lakatos et son ensemble (10 janvier), des concerti de Mozart avec
l’Orchestre de Chambre de Wallonie (11 janvier) préparés par des jeunes solistes lors d’une résidence avec
Piotr Anderszewski, ce dernier clôturant cette série avec un récital exceptionnel le 12 janvier.
→→ Des grands rendez-vous : l’Albion String Quartet et Miguel da Silva le 24 janvier, le trio Metral et le
compositeur Michel Petrossian le 30 janvier, le pianiste David Kadouch en récital le 1er mars, le retour
de Marc Ysaÿe & Mister Cover le 6 mars ou encore la soirée de prestige autour de l’Amelia Piano Trio et
Roberto Diaz, altiste de renom et à la tête du Curtis Institute de Philadelphie (28 & 29 mars).
→→ De nombreux concerts Laboratory & Discovery encore au programme de ce trimestre avec une présence
forte de nos jeunes chanteurs, le Concours Reine Elisabeth s’annonçant début mai.
2. La saison On Tour se poursuit avec des concerts à travers le pays dont de plus en plus de concerts « community ».
Notons aussi notre concert de Gala le 23 mars à Bozar, cette année consacré au chant autour de notre maître
invité Sophie Koch qui vient de faire sensation dans la dernière production de l’année 2017 de la Monnaie,
« Dialogues des Carmélites ». Ce concert de Gala sera consacré aux arias de Mozart et au magnifique « Stabat
Mater » de Rossini.
Enfin, pour terminer, deux concerts importants sont prévus à l’étranger dans les prochains mois, le 28 mars,
au Festival d’Abu Dhabi, autour de Louis Lortie et Frank Braley, de jeunes pianistes dans les doubles, triples et
quadruples concertos pour piano de Bach et le 1er avril à la Philips Collection à Washington, un récital du Trio
Busch.

A new year rolls around … to the sound of music!
After a busy start to the academic year and a dense opening to the season, 2017 concluded with the 8th edition of the
“Music Chapel Festival” at Flagey, this year on the theme of the “Duo.” This 8th festival was not only of exceptional
quality in artistic terms, but also drew record numbers of visitors, more than 5,000 music-lovers of all generations having
attended the festival from 6 to 10 December.
The start of 2018 promises to be intense:
• In artistic terms: the projects in the field interdisciplinary chamber music having become increasingly ambitious, it
has proved necessary to complete the artistic team around Miguel da Silva in this section with a Guest Master, Jean-
Claude Vanden Eynden. This pianist is one of the best chamber-music players of his generation and one who has a
profound knowledge of the repertoire. We wish him every success in his new mission with the young generation of
musicians.
