The Mayor opened the meeting in the presence of 20 citi-
zens and five councillors, Louise Morin being absent. He then
reminded the assembly that there will be a special meeting on
October 13 at 7 p.m. regarding the pool project, so he would
not answer questions on that subject.
First question period – A letter is tabled containing the sig-
natures of the people who want a referendum on the pool pro-
ject. A person wanted to know the size of the pool. The mayor
refused to answer but this person insisted and finally got an
answer: 75 feet. Someone else asked when the stop sign would
be installed at the corner of Knowlton Road and Maple Street
on Knowlton Road (soon). The defibrillator at the Mill Road
skating rink has been stolen. Someone asked if the 20 million
dollar deficit will be reflected in the next tax bill. No, the size
of the debt has no bearing on the tax rate. How will the citizens
