highlights its commitment in achieving environmental a n d social sustainability during the reporting
period from 1 December 2017 to 30 December 2018.
The sixth annu al Sustainability Review outlines the sustainability initiatives in the operation a n d

l’Hôtel Fiesta Beach Djerba a le plaisir de présenter le bilan de la durabilité 2017-2018, qui souligne
son engagement en faveur de la durabilité environnementale et sociale au cours de la période
considérée, du 1er décembre 2017 au 30 décembre 2018.
La sixième revue annuelle de développement durable décrit les initiatives de développement
durable dans l'exploitatio n et la gestion de notre hôtel. Il résume nos réalisations en matière de
réduction de la quantité de déchets générés chaque année et l'utilisation ratio nnelle des ressources
de l’Hôtel Fiesta Beach Djerba . Néanmoins, cela mo ntre nos contributions les plus sincères pour
assurer le bien-être de nos employés et notre interaction avec la communauté locale . Ceci dans le
but principal de réaliser un tourisme durable .

of conduct of our suppliers in accordance with the Policies & Procedures for Hotel Fiesta Beach Approved
Contractors/ Suppliers List including their social and ethical standards to minimise the risks associated in our
supply chain.
During the reporting period, none of our operation or suppliers had exposed to the significant risk of having
child and forced labour.

Investment in human capital through a broad spectrum of
employee training programmes specifically designed to cater to
the needs of employees at all levels is of paramount importance
to the Hotel. New training programmes are constantly added and
their contents are improved based on the feedback from staff
and regular review by management. During the reporting period,
emphasis was put on developing human capital through

organizing various training programmes, including soft skills
training, on-job practical training, language classes and
experience sharing sessions.
In-house specialized training programmes, management development
initiatives and education sponsorships are provided for our employees with
an aim to enhance the overall ability of our employees and foster their
holistic development.

additional training to develop talents with leadership potential. The Programme covers different aspects of
training for the participating employees enhancing their competencies on managing self, team and work. They can
further develop their management skills and pave the way to become professional team leaders.

Fiesta Beach Djerba Hotel recognises the importance of a safe and
healthy work environment as the cornerstone of a successful
organisation as people are the most important asset. In its
Occupational Safety and Health Policy Statement, Fiesta Beach Djerba
Hotel pins down the practicable principles and reasonable practices at
work and covenants:
• to provide and maintain the training, machineries and facilities,

material applications, environments, methods and systems at works
up to the highest safety and health standards, preventing occupational
injuries and diseases;
• to assign competent and skilled staff and contractors to handle
works with critical hazards or impacts related to occupational safety
and health;
• to promote the safety culture through various communication
channels such as safety campaigns, discussion and sharing sessions;
• to require contractors or subcontractors of its projects to assist in
the implementation of policies, procedures and practices related to
occupational safety and health at work.
To protect the employees in daily operations, regular training
workshops are arranged to increase staff awareness on personal
health and safety issues. An internal risk and safety team consisting of
various departments including Hygiene, Engineering and Security has
been set up to promote a safe working environment for achieving
'zero accident' status.

Sécurité, a été mise en place afin de promouvoir un environnement de

We always seek ways to improve guest experiences. Upgrading and refurbishment of our hotel
facilities are carried out whenever necessary to delight and satisfy our guests in every opportunity.

prohibited in 75% of rooms, restaurants, common areas and all enclosed facilities. These measures
help to provide a health-conscious and smoke- sensitive environment for the global travellers, and
guarantee the guests to stay out from both the second and lingering third-hand smoke.

As far as environmental management is concerned, Fiesta Beach Djerba Hotel ’ s key objectives are to minimise our
carbon footprint and adopt practices that are sustainable to the environment.
We have taken a number of energy efficient initiatives that have resulted in reducing energy consumption. Below are
the highlights of some of the key initiatives :
•Installation of energy efficient lamps and heat pumps
•Installation of digital thermostats with temperatures pre-set between 24 - 26°C
•Promotion of energy saving tips among staff to encourage best practices
•An Energy Management System is installed in all guest rooms to control lights, electrical appliances and air-
conditioning.
•Have renewable sources of energy captured on site and used such as: solar panels for heating the water.
•Monitoring energy consumption on monthly basis.
•Have effective energy LED lighting installed in all the reception area.
•Have a policy of purchasing low energy equipment for electrical devices i.e.: fridges, cookers, washing machines.
•In periods of low occupancy some areas of the hotel are on emergency lighting
•Lights in certain areas are equipped with sensors.
•Breaker contacts have been installed on balcony doors to control air conditioning and heating use.
In addition to energy saving signs which are visible for guests and staff, we have installed high-efficiency energy
appliances and the key card system in controlling our carbon footprint.

effective water management in order to minimize the
water consumption by installing water saving devices
and adopting water reduction practices throughout
our operations. We also take a step further by
promoting green lifestyles to the hotel guests as their
collective efforts will have significant impact on water
conservation.
Our key water saving measures include:

policies related to this.

endeavours to take more concrete measures to reduce our hotel’s plastic usage. Key measure include the

Food waste disposal and recycling figures are collected and analysed on a monthly basis, so as to monitor
closely on the food waste management and its effectiveness.
By 2018/2019, we target to reduce our food waste production by 5% comparing to our baseline amount
set in 2016.

As part of our environmental and community policy, a waste collection and sorting activity takes place at least once
during the full estival season, involving some clients as well as our gardening, security, animation and environment
teams.
Through this regular Programme, we aim to involve the volunteers of the Hotel and our dear guests in the
environmental and community policy adopted by the hotel and raise awareness regarding the importance of
cleanliness of the hotel and public beaches in preserving the environment.

As part of the "National Arbor Day“ and considering the Blue Flag, Travelife and Green Key programs, a gardening
activity took place on the 11/11/2018, at the hotel Fiesta Beach involving some residents as well as representatives
of various hotel’s departments.
We have offered our valued customers the opportunity to participate in this activity, to refresh and strengthen their

Caring for Our Community
We support and work with local community by yearly collecting funds
and donating them to the local island safeguard association. Between
2010 and 2016 we donated nearly 1.710 TD. These resources were used

in refreshing cultural and historical vestiges. But also being aware of
the fragility of the environment on our beloved island, in March 2017,
we made sure to put in place plastic containers in several public
beaches. This, in order to avoid any sort of sea pollution. Moreover, we
promoted good environmental practices with inviting passengers to
keep beaches clean and beautiful via opposing the following slogan on
these containers:"together we can keep our beaches clean and
beautiful“.
Nous soutenons et collaborons avec la communauté locale en
